From mantle xenoliths to fibrous zeolites
(Young basalt volcanism in the Balaton Highland, NW-Hungary)
Programme:
1) Uzsabánya quarry: vesicle filling zeolites and carbonates
2) Szentbékkálla: upper mantle-lower crust xenoliths
3) Hegyestű Hill natural monument: volcanology, xenoliths
4) Tihany: volcanology, panoramic view, short wine tasting

Departure points (bus; alternative):
1. Vienna: Uni Wien Geozentrum, 7 AM
2. Budapest: ELTE Riverside Campus, 7.30 AM
Arrival: Budapest, ELTE Riverside Campus (icebreaker party) 7 PM (for the Vienna group, arriving with luggage, free transport to the hotel(s) will be offered after the icebreaker)
Note: colleagues coming with their own car (e.g. from Graz/Leoben/Bratislava) may also join the trip with prior registration. For them the meeting points and time will be agreed on individual base.

(including field trip guide, entrance fees, bus transport, pocket lunch, refreshments; expected number of participants in the bus: 20-40)

Dunabogdány: Zeolites, laccolith, contact zone
(Miocene andesite-dacite volcanism in the Danube Bend, north of Budapest)
Programme:
1) Dunabogdány quarry: laccolith, garnet-bearing dacite, dacite/shale contact zone; cavity filling minerals – zeolites (chabazite, stilbite, analcime), calcite, smectite
2) Visegrád Castle Hill: volcanology; panoramic view to the Danube Bend; Medieval Age historical monument
3) Szentendre: short touristic walk in the picturesque 17-19th century central part of that little town of Serbian shipman/trader settlers
4) Departure for Budapest // Conference dinner in Szentendre

(New discoveries at traditionally problematic magmatic complexes in NE-Hungary)
Programme:
1) Darnó Hills: Triassic advance rifting, submarine basaltic
volcanism
2) Egerbakta: Szarvaskő Unit, pillow lavas and massive basalts
3) Tardos quarry: various gabbro types
4) Tóbérc quarry: gabbros, plagiogranite intrusions
5) Tihamér quarry, Eger: unwelded ignimbrite (Early Miocene)
6) Short touristic stop in Eger (castle, city centre)
7) Wine restaurant in the Valley of the Pretty Woman (Eger)
